Interstate 530 currently links Little Rock with Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Current plans call for extending I-530 to intersect I-69,
also known as the “NAFTA Highway” at Wilmar, Arkansas. Future plans call for a further extension from Wilmar through
Crossett, Arkansas, to I-20 at or near Monroe, Louisiana, following the U.S. 425/ U.S. 165 corridor. Currently, a private
engineering firm hired by the U.S. Department of Transportation, is conducting a feasibility study on the 80-mile stretch
between Wilmar and Monroe. Local economic development officials, business interests and everyday commuters
throughout the region are ecstatic about the prospect of landing a new interstate highway.
The purpose of this website is to promote education and discussion regarding the I-530 extension project.
